அரிஷம்

1. மூல நோய், அதாவது ஆசனவாயில் ஏற்படும் இரணத்தோடு கூடிய முளை, ஆயுள் வேதப்படி இது அறுவகைப்படும் - piles or hemorrhoids; an inflamed tumour about the verge of the anus.  According to Ayurveda, it consists of six varieties, viz.
2. வாதா ரிஷம் - That which is produced from the deranged Vayu (wind or air) in  the body.
3. பித்தா ருஷம் - A form of piles produced from the effects of aggravated condition of the bile.
4. சிலேட்டு மாரிஷம் - One caused by the deranged phlegm in the system.
5. திரிதோஷா ரிஷம் - Piles due to the concerted action of all the three humours in the system.
6. இரத்த ரிஷம் - A form of piles arising from the deranged condition of blood – Hemorrhoids; Bleeding piles.
7. கர்ப்பா ரிஷம் - Another variety of piles due to congenital or hereditary causes.
