About T. V. Sambasivam Pillai
        T. V. Sambasivam Pillai is an author of "Siddha Medical Dictionary" which is equal to an encyclopedia. It is the most valuable dictionary of reference to students, professors, and practitioners of medicine. He was a hereditary devotee of Siddhars’ Science and was well-acquainted with Tamil literature, Philosophy, Chemistry, Botany and other Allied Sciences.

Birth history:
        He was born on 19th September 1880 in Bangalore to Thiru. Vilviah Manniar and Srimathi Manonmani Ammal. He was originally from a village called Kamuganchenthangudi near Tanjore, the TVS family migrated to Bangalore. T. V. Sambasivam Pillai was the eldest son. His initials, T denotes his native Tanjore and V denote his father’s name, Vilvaiah Mannaiar. While in Bangalore, due to an epidemic outbreak of plaque his family shifted to Kamuganchenthangudi, (Oratthanadu Taluk of Thanjavur district in Tamil Nadu) but, TVS stayed in Bangalore as he was pursuing his education there. As soon as he completed his schooling in Bangalore, he was employed in a clerical job in the Madras City Police Commissioner’s office.

Family History
        He got married to Srimathi. Duraikannu Ammal in the year 1903. The couples were blessed with five sons, unfortunately due to various reasons, none of them survived. His wife also passed away due to cholera in the year 1914. Because of compulsion from his parents, he agreed for another marriage with Srimathi. Ammani Ammal in the year 1916. Disaster struck him once again when she also passed away during her first delivery in the year 1917.

Life History
        All the cataclysmic events in his life affected his mental strength and pushed him into depression. To overcome it, he poured himself into the huge collection of ancient palm manuscripts and books by his forefathers. He continued to work on his dictionary throughout his life he dedicated his entire life for the welfare of Indian science "through adding meanings". He passed away on 12th November 1953 at the age of 73 after creating history and inspiration in the minds.
