அசோகாரிஷ்டம்

அசோக மரத்தின் ஈரமுள்ள பச்சைப் பட்டையைத் தண்ணீலூறப் போட்டு, அத்துடன் பழய வெல்லத்தைக் கரைத்துப் பின்னர் காட்டத்திப்பூ, தாமரைக் கிழங்கு, ஓமம், சந்தனம், கோரைக்கிழங்கு முதலிய கடைச் சரக்குகளையும் கூட இடித்துப் போட்டுக் கலக்கி, ஓடுமூடிச் சீலை மண் செய்து, 40-நாள் புளிக்க வைத்துப் பிறகு எடுத்துவடித்த் தெளிவுநீர். இக்குடி நீர், பெண்களின் சூதகக் கோளாறுகள், அதாவது பெரும்பாடு, வெள்ளை, சூதகச் சிக்கல் முதலியவைகளையும், கருப்பைத் தாபிதம் (அழற்சி), இடுப்புவலி முதலிய  நோய்களையும் போக்கும் - A kind of tincture prepared according to Ayurveda, by treating the pounded Asoka  bark (green) mixed with other bazaar durgs viz.  wild Athi flower, lotus root, bishop’s weed, sandal, cyperus root etc., in a solution of old jiggery and then fermenting it sufficiently long.  It is useful for menstrual disorders like Leucorrhoea, Amenorrhoea etc., as also for inflammation of the uterus (Metritis), back-ache and other female complaints. 

Note: this may be taken with great advantage after child birth, as a preventive measure against the attack of puerperal fever and other complaints generally following delivery.
