b. (In Psychology) One of the six supports or mainstay of life. It is one of the six nerve centres in the human body. It is said to be situated in the heart at a distance which is ten finger’s breadth above ‘Manipurakam’ another nerve centre situated in the navel region. It is triangular in shape consisting of 12 petals. This corresponds to the cardiac centre supposed to be the seat of dometic feelings. (The six nerve-centres referred to above are known as lotuses and hence the use of the term ‘petals’ which are nothing but nerve-endings. These centres when stimulated, originate forces conducive to the opening of higher spiritual consciousness. They probably correspond to the various plexuses or ganglionic centres (the nerve groups) where vitality and sensation are believed to be more strongly congregated than in other portions of the body).
