- a. அகத்திமரம், இது அவுத்தி எனவும் வழங்கும். இம்மரம் 3-35 அடி உயரம் வளரும். இது நமது தேசத்தில் சாதாரணமாய்த் தோட்டங்களில் எங்கும் காணப்படும். இதன் பெரிய சிகப்பு அல்லது வெள்ளைப் பூவினாலேயே இம்மரத்தை அறியலாம். அடிமரம் மிகவும் மிருதுவாயும் ஒன்றுக்கும் பயனற்றதாயும் இருக்கும். பட்டை மிகக்கசப்பு, மலவிருத்தி மருந்தாகவும் உபயோகப்படும். காய்கள் நீள நீளமாகத் தொங்கும். அவைகளின் உள்ள ஏக விதைகள் இருக்கும்.
b. Agastry’s Plant – Coronilla grandiflora, alias Sesbania grandiflora, the tree grows 30 to 35 ft in height. It is commonly met with in gardens throughout our country. It can be easily recognised by its large bright scarlet or white flowers. The long bare stem is soft and is of no use. The bark is powerfully bitter and as a tonic. The legumes are very long, pendulous and many seeded.
a. இது வெற்றிலைக் கொடிக்காற்களிற் பயிராக்கப்படும். பட்டையில் ஓர்வித மெதுவான சிவப்புப் பிசின் உற்பத்தியாகும். இலையின் கசாயம் பேதிக்கு உபயோகப்படும். இலைச் சாற்றைச் சுரத்தினால் ஏற்படும் வலிப்புக்கும், பூச்சாற்றைக் கண்ணின் பார்வைக் குறைவுக்கும் - கண்ணில் பிழிவதற்கும் உபயோகிப்பதுண்டு, பட்டை மிகத் துவர்பாதலின் அம்மை காணும் பொழுது குருக்கள் காணும் சுரத்திற்கு அதன் கஷாயத்தைக் கொடுப்பதுண்டு. செவ்வகத்தியின் வேரைத் தண்ணீர் விட்டரைத்து, வாதவீக்கத்திற்குப் பற்றுப் போடலாம். இலை, பூ இவைகளின் சாற்றைப் பீனசம் தலைவலி முதலிய நோய்களில் மூக்கினால் உள்ளுக்கு உறிஞ்சக் குணமாகும். இதன் இலைகளையும் காய்களையும் உணவாகக் கொள்ளலாம். மாடுகளுக்குக் கொடுக்கப் பால் சுரக்கும்.
b. The plant is much employed on account of its rapid growth, for training the betel-creeper, and the barks is loaded with a kind of red gum in a soft state. An infusion of the leaves is a useful cathartic. The juice of the leaves is squeezed into the nostrils in bad fevers on the day of the paroxysm, and the juice of the flower into the eyes for curing dimness of vision. The bark is very astringent and is given as infusion in the first stages of small-pox and other eruptive fevers. The root of the red flowered variety (coccinea) made into a paste with water is applied to rheumatic swelling. The juice of the leaves and flowers is a popular remedy for nasal catarrh and headache, and is sniffed up the nostrils.
Leaves and tender pods are eaten in curries and they are also given to cattle for promoting secretion of milk.

Foreign Agathi, Ring worm Shrub - Cassia alata. This should not be confused with Cassia Tora (Ringworm plant), a different species possessing similar property of curing Ring-worm when rubbed with lime-juice.
6.
மலையகத்தி, காட்டகத்தி, தோதகத்தி
These, though with similar terminations are quite different species of trees and thus fall under different botanical groups.
