அட்ட மூலம்

எட்டு வித மூலிகைகள். - The name given for a group consisting of the following eight drugs, viz. According to Tamil Siddha Medicine either group (a) or (b).
a)
1 கண்டு பாரங்கி - Cleodendron serratum.
2 காஞ்சொறிவேர் - Tragia involucrate (root of).
3 கோரைக் கிழங்கு - cyperus rotundus
4 சித்திர மூலம் -Plumbago rosea; alias P. zeylanica.
5 சுக்கு -dry ginger.
6 நன்னாரி -sarasaparilla.
7 செவ்வியம் (மிளகு) - black pepper.
8 அரத்தை -galangal.

b)
1 விஷ்ணுகரந்தி - Evolvulus alsinoides
2 கஞ்சாங்கோரை - Ocimum album
3 கோரைக் கிழங்கு - Cyperus rotundus
4 ஆடாதோடை -Adhatoda vesica
5 துளசி, -Ocimum sanctum (Basil)
6 பேய்ப்புடல் - Tricosanthes laciniosa
7 பற்பாடகம் -Mollugo cerviana
8 சீந்தில் -Menispermum Cordifolium

2. According to Ayurveda (Sanscrit) –
i. ஜீவகம் (சீந்தில்வு), Menispermum cordifolia (Moon-creeper).
ii. ரிஷபகம் (மூங்கிலுப்பு), Bamboo salt.
iii. மேதை (அமுக்கிராக் கிழங்கு), Withania somnifera.
iv. மகாமேதை (நன்னாரி), Sarasaparilla.
v. ரித்தி (சிற்றாமுட்டி), Lesser galangal.
vi. விருத்தி (பேராமுட்டி), Greater galangal.
vii. காகோளி (வெங்காயம் போன்றது) a plant like onion – Tizyphus Napeca.
viii. க்ஷுரகாகோளி (வெள்ளை இரளி), another white variety of No. 7.
NOTE:- Although the title is the same for the above three groups, the composing drugs are different. In Tamil Siddha Medicine, Nos. 1 and 2 are purely febrifuges; while No 3 in Sanskrit (Ayurveda), is a tonic.
