அஞ்சுண்ணக் குகை
[ Anjunnakkugai]
- a. (அஞ்சு+சுண்ணம்+குகை) ஐந்து வகைச் சுண்ணாம்பினால் செய்த குகை. அதாவது கடல்நுரை, கல்லுப்பு, வெடியுப்பு, சீனாக்காரம், சூடன் ஆகிய இவ்வைந்து சரக்குகளைத் தனித்தனியாக ஊதிச் சேர்த்து அரைத்து மூசை செய்து அதற்குள் வேதைக்குண்டான உலோகங்களை அல்லது உபரசச் சத்துக்களை வைத்து உருக்குங் குகை. அதன் பெருமை அடியிற் கண்ட செயுள்ளினால் இது விளங்கும். “வாதமஞ்சி யிதைக்கண்டால் வாயைப் பொத்தும்; வாதிக்கும் இதை விட்டால் சுண்ணாம்பில்லை; போதவஞ்சக் குகைக்குள்ளே சூதம்நீறும், பென்னீறும் வெள்ளி முதல் போக்கு நீறும், நாதமஞ்சம் உபரசங்களெல்லாம் நீறும், நாதவிந்து முதல் நீறும் நாட்டில் காணே” (கொங்க. வாத காவியம்).
b. A crucible made of 5 kinds of calcium compounds after grinding them into a paste. These compounds are derived by burning each of the following five substances into ash. Viz. sea-forth, rock-salt, nitre, alum and camphor. The crucible thus prepared is capable of enduring extreme heat, even under a severe and scorching test and this is made clear from he above stanza quoted from the Konganava’s work on Alchemy.
NOTE: English curcibles now employed for heating substances to a very high temperature in a great fire or furnace, are made of clay, porcelain, iron, black lead or plumbago or platina etc.
