a. உடம்பில் கஞ்சி அல்லது தைலம் ஊற்றிக் கைகளால் அழுத்தியும், கால்களால் மிதித்தும், துவட்டியும், வாதத்தால் ஈடுபட்ட நோயாளிக்குச் செய்யும் பலவித சிகிச்சை; இதை மலையாளத்தில் ‘நெளரக்கிழி’, ’உழிச்சல்’, ‘தாரை’, எனச் சொல்வதுண்டு.
b. (In Medicine), An Ayurvedic treatment adopted in Malabar in which the whole body is anointed with mediciated conjee or oil and massaged or otherwise pressed by foot. It is a variety of mechanic massage consisting in a systematic therapeutic friction stroking and kneading of the body.
This treatment is generally resorted to, in cases of nervous affections or other similar aliments in order to effect a cure or to bring relief at least to the patient.

NOTE:- It consists of three kinds viz – Pranic healing, Mental healing and Spiritual healing.
