[ Anuththampavaatham]

a. (அனு + தம்பம் + வாதம் = தாடை + பிடிப்பு + வாத நோய்) தாடையைப் பற்றிய ஓர் வகை வாத நோய், இதனால் இரண்டு தாள்களும் மரத்து இறுகியனது போற் காணல், நாவு உள்ளிற் சுருக்கிக் கொள்ளல், முகத்தின் தொழில் அடங்கல், முதலிய குறிகள் ஏற்படும்.
இது சிலேட்டும பண்டம், சீதள சலம், காற்று, பகல் நித்திரை முதலியவைகளினால் உண்டாகும்.

b. A neurotic condition marked by the tonic spasm of the jaw, drawing in of the tongue inactivity of the facial nerves etc.
It is due to taking phlegmatic substances, exposure to chill weather, day sleep and other causes exciting especially a functional disorder of the nervous system.
