அந்தராயாம தனுத்தம்ப வாதம்

a. ஓர் வாத நோய். இது உடம்பினுள்ள வாயு பிரகோபமடைந்து, விரல்கள், புறங்கால்கள், வயிறு, மார்பு, இருதயம், தொண்டை ஆகிய இவைகளை அனுசரிக்குங்கால், உடம்பிலுள்ள என்புக்கட்டுகள் உள்ளுக்கிழுக்க உடம்பு சுருங்கி முன்னம் குனிந்து உள்ளாக வளைந்து குறுகுவதனால் ஏற்படும். இதனால் விழி பிரளாது தம்பித்துத் தாள் மரத்து, விலா முறிந்து, வாயொழுகிக் காணும்.

b. A disease due to the accumulation of the extremely enraged Vayu (nerve force) in the regions of the fingers, insteps, abdomen, chest, heart and throat. It forcibly draws in the local ligaments, when the body becomes contracted and bends forward bringing about a curvature of the inner trunk. In this disease, the movements of the eyes becomes impossible, being fixed in their sockets; the jaw bones are fractured and the patient ejects slimy mucous.
