நகச்சுற்றுண்டாகி நகத்தின் வேரைக் கெடுத்து அந்த நகம் விழுவதற்கு முன்னமே மறு நகத்தை முளைக்கச் செய்யும் ஓர் நோய். இதற்கு வடமொழியில் உபநகரோகம் என்று பெயர் - An inflammation of the bulbous ends of the fingers affecting the root of the nail. A fresh nail crops up before the original one is shed - Whitlow.
