பித்த மேலீட்டினால் நரம்புகள் தாக்கப்பட்டு அதனால் தனக்குள் ஏதோ ஒன்றைக் காரணமில்லாமலே நினைத்துக் கொண்டோ அல்லது பார்த்துத் திடுக்கிட்டோ, மனோதிடமும், நினைவு மழிந்து, சிறுவர்கள் கூச்சலிட்டுத் தன் பின் ஓடிவரும்படித் தலையை விரித்துக் கொண்டும், நிருவாணமாகவும், ஓடி அலையும் ஓர் விதத் தீராத பைத்திய நோய். இதைச் சாதாரணமாகப் பிசாசு பிடித்ததெனச் சொல்வதுண்டு - A form of chronic dementia with a wide range of mental disorders brought about by the functional disturbance of the brain due to derangement of bile in the system.
